BENGALURU: Amid opposition BJP intensifying its demand for IT-BT minister Priyank Kharge's resignation over contractor Sachin Panchal's suicide, the state govt on Monday handed over the investigation to CID.
The decision came two days after Priyank Kharge sought an "independent" inquiry into the death. Panchal died by suicide on Dec 26 and had left a death note that allegedly mentioned one Raju Kapanur, said to be a key aide of Priyank.
However, state home minister G Parameshwara asserted police had confirmed that Priyank's name was not mentioned in the death note. He further claimed that dragging Priyank Kharge's name into the incident was an attempt to tarnish the govt.

Responding to BJP’s demand to hand over the investigation to CBI, the minister said not all cases can be given to CBI. The CID is capable of investigating this case.
“We won’t listen to everything BJP says. We will consider positive advice and suggestions, but won’t entertain political motives,” he explained.
Earlier, Kharge’s letter to Parameshwara, seeking an independent probe into the death, was released by the former’s office.
