A sub-inspector was stabbed for questioning three youths who were buying liquor late on Saturday night in Cholurpalya, in Magadi Road police limits on Saturday night.

BANGALORE: A sub-inspector was stabbed for questioning three youths who were buying liquor late on Saturday night in Cholurpalya, in Magadi Road police limits on Saturday night. According to the police, S-I Lakshmikanth Raju, 56, attached to Magadi Road police station, saw three persons buying liquor around 11.45 pm in a bar.
Since it was over the legal time limit, he tried to question the three youths.

During the exchange of words, one of the youths stabbed the S-I and all of them ran away. He was later taken to hospital for treatment. The police are searching for the youth.
FRIENDS STAB TEEN TO DEATH
Prasanna, 19, was stabbed to death when he was talking to his friends on Saturday night on Kurubarahalli main road.
Police said Prasanna, a resident of JC Nagar in Basaveshwaranagar police limits, had studied till PUC. On Saturday night, he was standing with three friends in front of a school, and as they chatted, a heated argument broke out and one of the boys stabbed Prasanna.
He was immediately taken to a private hospital but he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Sunday. Police said the accused, who are all teenagers, will be apprehended soon.

MOWED DOWN
C Indrasen, 55, who was returning home after visiting his property in Nelamangala, was hit by a vehicle. He died on the spot. Police said Indrasen was a former Army personnel working with a security agency, and a resident of Maruthisevanagar.
He was returning home on Sunday morning around 11 am on a two-wheeler, after visiting his property in Nelamangala, which he was planning to sell. When he was near Gangadharanahalli cross, an unknown vehicle hit his two-wheeler. He fell down and came under three wheels of the vehicle. The police are trying to find the vehicle.
SUICIDE
Depressed over financial crisis and debt, a 45-year-old businessman committed suicide in Bharathinagar police limits. Mohammed Arif was a resident of Shivajinagar Mosque road. He was shifted to Victoria Hospital soon after he consumed poison on Friday night.
He died on Sunday morning. His family members claimed that he had taken a loan of nearly Rs 30 lakh and had sustained a loss. He was depressed and may have taken the extreme step, police said.
ARRESTED
CCB sleuths raided several vehicle emission testing centres in different parts of the city for allegedly distributing fake emission certificates, and have arrested nine men.
The police have identified the accused as B Raju, Syed Fayaz Ahmed, M Jagadish, M Kumar, B Nagaraj, B Hanumanth, R Santosh, N Irfan and Janardhan Gupta.
According to police, the accused gave clearance certificates without checking the vehicles, and would charge more than the prescribed price. Using fake software, would get the emission levels under the legal limit for the vehicles.
