Rustler held, 6 cows recovered

Bengaluru: A 42-year-old rustler who stole cows and sold them to make quick money has been arrested.
The suspect, Somashekar is a resident of Abbigere in North Bengaluru and from Hassan. He worked as a helper/housekeeper in private firms and quit the job two months ago. Somashekar started stealing cows left by their owners on empty land for grazing.
A case of cattle theft was reported in Amruthahally police limits by a resident of Jakkur. He informed the police that his two cows, left for grazing near Jakkur govt school, were stolen. The police verified CCTV cameras in the area and found Somashekar taking away the cows.
He was nabbed four days back. Somashekar confessed to selling the stolen cows at Chintamani santhe (fair). Police recovered six cows that were unsold and were tied up by him at a deserted place. He had sold more than six cows until his arrest. The police returned four cows to the owner, while another cow owner said the recovered cows didn't belong to him and demanded that cops trace his animals. Somashekar stole cows from Sampigehalli, Jakkur and Dasarahalli.
