Rtd DySP’s son nabbed

BANGALORE : The son of a retired deputy superintendent of police was arrested on Monday for allegedly harassing his wife.
In a complaint filed with Magadi Road police, Shwetha S said she was married to retired DySP Muni Reddy’s son Sharath Kumar in 2005 and the couple had a child through in-vitro fertilization. She said Sharath Kumar had been harassing her for dowry and she had also met senior police officers to seek his arrest.
The complaint alleged that he had tried to kill her by strangling her while she was asleep. “On one occasion, he brandished a pistol of his friend in a bid to intimidate her and threaten to kill her. So we have taken up a case of attempt to murder also,” police said. However, police said Sharath Kumar had also accused Shwetha of having an affair with an upcoming actor and produced call details of her mobile before them. They said a thorough investigation will be conducted into the counter allegation. Sharath was a franchisee of a private mobile operator. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
