Rs 250-crore scam: Lokayukta raids nine Greater Bengaluru Authority officials

Bengaluru: A team of Lokayukta officials raided 13 locations in the city Tuesday in connection with an alleged Rs 250-crore scam in civil works carried out in and around RR Nagar constituency between 2019 and 2020.Lokayukta police registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act after former MP DK Suresh filed a complaint. Superintendent of police, Lokayukta city wing, Shivaprakash Devaraj, said they obtained court warrants to carry out the raids. He said, "The complainant, DK Suresh, named nine officials from the erstwhile BBMP (now GBA) in the FIR. Some of them are retired now. They are accused of indulging in corruption while carrying out work on roads, drainage and other issues. We raided their places and seized documents, including those related to the work. We will first study the documents. As of now, we have not arrested or detained anyone in the case." Officials named in the FIR are:Doddaiah, chief engineer, TVCC cell and Satish, assistant executive engineer, both at BBMP (now GBA) headquarters; Vijay Kumar, chief engineer; Shilpa, assistant engineer; Mohan, executive engineer; Bharati, additional executive engineer; Basavaraj, executive engineer and additional executive engineer and; Siddaramaiah, assistant engineer, all from RR Nagar zone; and Umesh, assistant executive engineer from Laggere sub-division.
