Retired police officer's house burgled

hubli: a retired police officer's house was burgled on wednesday night. the incident occurred in the shirur park area of hubli. the vidyanagar police who rushed to the spot said ex-dcp kademani's house was burgled and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were stolen. a case has been registered and further investigation is on. the police in the twin cities are gearing up after a spate of robberies and dacoities in which the criminals have targeted isolated houses in extension areas.the twin cities police have urged the public to immediately inform the police if there were any suspicious activities in their vicinity. woman commits suicide: fed up over frequent quarrels with her husband, a twenty-five-year-old woman committed suicide in hubli on wednesday. the gokul road police said the woman, umadevi ramalingappa badiger (25), a resident of the industrial estate area, had gone to her mother's house after a fight and returned a few days back. umadevi's husband had sent her to the maternal home with instructions that she should return immediately after deepavali. as she arrived a few days late, he allegedly picked up a quarrel with her. umadevi hanged herself from a ceiling pipe. she has left behind two children. the police are investigating. trampled: an old man's feet were crushed when a bullock cart trampled him at bassapur village of navalgund taluk. the police said the man was rushed to the hospital where doctors could not save his legs. the old man, after a day's labour in the fields, was returning home in the evening. he has been identified as phakirappa shivappa. the police have registered a case. criminal in police dragnet: a wanted criminal in many cases of burglaries, extortions, and who had also been sentenced to life imprisonment in the prof. sheshadri murder case, manjunath shivudada (34) has been arrested. the twin cities police succeeded in arresting the criminal in maccha village of belgaum district. giving details about criminal, the police said he was the son of lakshmappa kanakeri and hailed from jatageri village of koppal taluk.
