BENGALURU: The steel flyover that BDA plans to build at the busy Ballari road leading to the airport has sparked protests from citizens who say the project will result in more traffic blocks.
Last week TOI said the flyover was not a feasible projects and citizens said building a metro or commuter rail would be a better option for quick connectivity to the airport.
“For any big project, the feasibility report has to be prepared by BDA and the probable environmental impact should be investigated by the pollution control board. None of these reports have been shared by BDA for the proposed steel flyover that promises ease congestion in the city. There has to be a feasibility report for the steel flyover project,” said Sanjeev V Dyamannavar, who has created an online platform to engage citizens in a debate about issues in the city that impact people’s daily lives.
He says BDA should inform citizens whether other modes of transport were considered before settling on the steel flyover. “There should be more transparency to explain how these decision are being made,” said Dyamannavar, who is an advocate of a commuter rail service to sort out congestion problems.
