BANGALORE: The endless convoy of trucks ferrying construction material and excavating earth and littering it along Kariyammana Agrahara Road, Yamalur, Kadubeesanahalli, off Outer Ring Road, sparked off a protest by locals on Sunday. Residents alleged that the road condition is abysmal because of the dumping and movement of heavy trucks.
Scores of residents of a couple of apartment complexes and Yemalur villagers blocked trucks entering Kariyammana Agrahara Road from ORR.

"While the construction material is meant for a tech park expansion work, the mud is being dumped into Bellandur Lake for purposes unknown," a resident alleged.
"Mud is being dumped illegally in the lake. When it rains it is going to flood the basement of our apartments. Complaints to civic agencies have been of no avail," said Anil Wagde, resident, Nagarjuna Greenwood Apartments.
Bellandur Lake is being rejuvenated by Lake Development Authority and BDA involving Sherwood Institute, USW-based environmental engineering firm Carollo Engineers and urban expert Vivek Menon. "BDA assured us the lake will be fenced off. It's the residents who brought this illegal dumping to light. We will get in touch with them right away," Menon told TOI.
Agencies and construction firms involved in the issue were not available for comments.
