BENGALURU: Police on Wednesday filed the chargesheet in S Renukaswamy murder case, about three months after the gruesome crime. Actor Darshan and his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda have both been named, along with 15 others, in the chargesheet that runs into 3,991 pages.

While Darshan has been charged with conspiring and executing the kidnap of his fan Renukaswamy from Chitradurga and his subsequent murder on June 8 at a parking yard in RR Nagar here, Pavithra has been charged with kidnapping, assault, and abetment to murder.

In the chargesheet filed by Kamakshipalya police before the 24th additional chief metropolitan magistrate's court, Pavithra remains accused No. 1, while Darshan is accused No. 2 - as was the case with the FIR filed earlier. "The numbers don't matter. What matters is their role in the crime," a senior officer told TOI about the accused.

Actor’s lover claimed she did nothing to Renukaswamy

City police commissioner B Dayananda said: “A watertight chargesheet has been filed against all 17 accused. It consists of eyewitness [accounts], scientific, circumstantial, and technical evidence.”

According to the chargesheet, Renukaswamy had sent obscene messages to Pavithra on Instagram, which provoked the accused to kidnap and murder him.

While the chargesheet mentions that Darshan claimed he did not assault Renukaswamy, Pavithra has been quoted in the same document as saying that she didn’t do anything to the victim and it was Darshan and his accomplices who brutally assaulted him.

However, the other accused persons have confessed it was Pavithra who had egged them on to assault Renukaswamy.
Reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed blood stains on Pavithra’s slippers and Darshan’s loafers, jeans, and T-shirt.
