Removal of hoardings has been well appreciated by citizens: BBMP to Karnataka HC

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) has claimed that removal of

unauthorized hoardings

in

Bengaluru city

has been well appreciated by the citizens and also tourists visiting the city.


The civic body has made this assertion in the statement of objections filed before the court in relation to one year

advertisement ban

.

Dwelling further, the BBMP has said that the overwhelming number of posters /banners/hoardings that were hanging around the entire city has the inevitable effect of causing public nuisance and also an eyesore to the viewers.

“Putting up illegal sky signs and advertisements and stopping the clear view of environment is violative of the

fundamental rights

of citizens under

Article 21

of the constitution of India” the statement adds.

The civic body has also defended the one- year ban imposed on advertisements in the city, claiming that the actual advertisers appears to have transitioned themselves to other modes of advertising.
