, an assistant executive engineer (AEE) of BBMP, filed the complaint seeking legal action against the company and its vendor, Keerthi Raj. “We have registered a case and are investigating,“ they said.

Sharif said he visited the spot after receiving a complaint from residents that somebody had dug up the stretch and damaged it by using vehicles and machinery .The road had been dug up at four places on Thursday mid night. Sharif filed the police complaint on Friday, seeking action against the persons responsible for carrying out the work illegally and damaging the road, posing threat to life and security of the residents.

Police said they have invoked IPC section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others), 431(mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 431(mischief by injury to public road).BBMP officials have seized vehicles and machinery used to dig up the road. As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the firm and BBMP, the company has to keep jurisdictional officials of the Palike in the loop while taking up works.

Police have asked Keerthi Raj and others concerned to appear before them with relevant documents.
