BANGALORE:
Sandalwood's gentleman actor-director
Ramesh Arvind has done another turn. The campus actor who wears many hats as TV anchor and film director is donning yet another one - this time as writer and illustrator with his debut book, 'It's no F_N without U'. The actor says his book is for people on the go. He candidly admits that he also wrote it on the go, on his mobile phone to be precise.
Excerpts from an interview:
Q. Can your book be a stress-buster in Bangalore where tempers always seem to be running high.
A. I hope so! I have seen people lose temper when they are stuck in traffic. It could be stress due to work pressure or family life. But it's the feeling of hurt that finds a vent as anger on someone else.
Q. How will you brand your book?
A. I would call it an 'airport book'. There are books which make a good read when you fly. Such books can charge up the reader, lend positive vibes and cheer up one on arriving at a destination. Everyone does mistakes and the wise guy corrects it. Even the President's pencil has an eraser! My book tries to send this message across.
Q. You have done your own illustrations.
A. Images stay in mind forever.
Q. Is the actor and director Ramesh slowing down?
A. Not at all. If anyone feels s/he is capable of doing anything, one must just do it. I can never be a marathon runner and I don't regret it. But I knew I could be a writer and I did it. In fact, every write-up in my book can be made into a short film. A film will have budgetary constraints. But in my book, I can make my hero land on the moon and come back to earth any number of times.
Q. Who were your first readers?
A. My daughter and wife read my book first. My daughter said, "It's damn fun!" My wife, a voracious reader, appreciated the book.
An extract from the book
