CHENNAI: While the city prayed for relief from rain, the film fraternity of Tamil Nadu probably thanked the heavens for the continued downpour.
They were spared the follow-up action by income tax department officials who raided residences of prominent film personalities on Wednesday to weed out unaccounted wealth.

Further raids and related action were "put on hold" as incessant rain prevented department officials from reporting to work.
Chief commissioner of income tax Santhosh Datta told TOI, "Our men could not reach the office. We have decided to defer all action and put on hold further raids and search operations till Monday."
But has the rain opened a window of opportunity for the film stars to escape the IT dragnet? "Not quite. We have seized and sealed most unaccounted income. Keys to bank lockers are...
... in our possession.
They (film stars) cannot do anything," Datta said. It is learnt that a special team has been constituted by the IT authorities to go into the details of unaccounted seized assets.

The extent of concealment is being pegged in excess of Rs 25 crore, sources in the department said. In an early-morning operation on Wednesday, the IT department searched the premises of leading personalities of Tamil filmdom.
The IT officers searched the houses of music director A R Rehman, stars Vijay, Vikram, Vivek, Trisha, Sneha, Silambarasan, Surya and 'Jeyam' Ravi.
Financiers Sanjay Wadhwa, Subash Nahar, Pankaj Mehta, producers 'Oscar' Ravichandran, T Raajendar, S A Chandrasekar, director I S Shankar, music directors Harris Jeyaraj and Yuvan Shankar Raja, besides playback singers Srinivas and Mano also faced the music.
