BENGALURU: Criminal Investigation Department officials, investigating the police sub-inspector recruitment scam, on Monday filed chargesheets before the 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in four more cases registered in Yelahanka New Town, Ulsoor, Ramamurthynagar and Koramangala police stations.
Police mentioned senior IPS officer Amrit Paul, then additional director general of police (recruitment), and other recruitment wing staff, including DSP Shanthakumar, as accused in these cases. Paul was arrested on July 4 in a case registered in High Grounds police station related to the scam. He is in Bengaluru Central Prison now. According to sources, the CID will record Paul's statement in these cases soon. Cops may also submit additional chargesheets in the case depending on outcome of their investigation.
In the Ulsoor case, CID officials charged first-ranker J Kushal Kumar and fifth-ranker V Darshan Gowda, who allegedly paid Rs 20 lakh each in advance for getting ranks in the exam.
CID officials said the amount was paid to Harsha, second-division assistant, and his colleagues in the recruitment wing. In this case, cops named eight persons as accused. Sleuths submitted the Forensic Science Laboratory report, call record details, statements of the accused and witnesses in the 1,200-page chargesheets. In the other three cases too, cops filed chargesheets that ran more than 1,000 pages.
