Proposal to divide Bangalore city opposed

BANGALORE: The proposal to divide/bifurcate Bangalore city is only to reap political benefit, a city based organization has claimed.
"Bangalore was built by Kempegowda about five centuries ago. It has got its own history .The people have a special emotional attachment with the city.The city should not be divided citing problems or for that matter for any reason.It would go against the wishes of the great ruler who built the city" Marimallaiah, General Secretary , Bengaluru Nirmathru Kempegowda Kendra Samithi said.
"The members in the committee constituted to look into the issue of division of Bangalore city have got political interest" he added.
He further said that for administrative purposes, the city has already been divided into four zones and if required, the term of the Mayors can be extended from the present one year term.
He also expressed support to the big protest rally planned on October 27 opposing the proposal to divide the city.
