Producer held for cheating woman of Rs 85 lakh

BENGALURU: Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Wednesday arrested a Kannada film producer and two others for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 85 lakh. Sudhakar K, a producer, and his associates, Nallayan Peter and Vijay Kumar, were trying to lure many people, including businessmen, to invest in film production, distribution and land development. Recently, the trio and two others managed to convince Divyashree KT of Hosakerehalli, south Bengaluru, to invest money to develop a piece of land in Mysuru. Divyashree invested Rs 85 lakh, but later learnt that one of her friends had invested Rs 3 crore with the gang and was cheated. She rushed to Byatarayanapura police and filed a complaint against Sudhakar and his associates. Probe revealed the gang had cheated many people of several crores of rupees.
