Pre-university pupils in Karnataka can improve results in 2 years

Bengaluru: Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has tweaked rules for improving II pre-university (PU) exam results. Students who wish to improve their results have to do so within the next year.As per a govt order, all types of students — regular, private, and repeaters — can write three exams in the year they registered and sit for the exams held during the next academic year. Earlier, students could take exams up to six times.The change has come after the department moved to a three-exam system for SSLC and II PU, giving students three chances every year to improve their scores. KSEAB said the new rule has made management of mark sheets easier. "Earlier, mark sheets were printed and distributed to students who passed or failed in previous years. However, when failed students tried again to improve their results and succeeded, the mark sheets needed to be reprinted. The original mark sheets were withdrawn and new ones issued. The management of mark sheets would thus become cumbersome," the order read.
