BENGALURU: The Karnataka high court on Friday granted conditional anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, wife of Holenarasipura MLA HD Revanna and mother of Prajwal Revanna, accused in Karnataka sex scandal, in connection with the abduction case registered by the KR Nagara Police in Mysuru.

Allowing the petition, Justice Krishna S Dixit has said that the petitioner should be at the office of the jurisdictional investigating officer ( SIT) at 1 pm on Friday and fully co-operate in the investigation process .

The judge also added that in the guise of investigation, she should not be retained in the the office of the investigation officer after 5 pm.

Bhavani should not hover near KR Nagar of Mysuru district and Hassan district, the judge has added while directing the warrant issued by the special court for elected representatives to be kept in abeyance.

Directing the matter to be posted on next Friday, Justice Dixit has said that this is only an order of grant of bail and not an award and hence should not indulge in any celebration.

The SIT claimed that she is the master mind in the case and hence custodial interrogation is necessary.

In this case, her husband HF Revanna, who is accused no 1, has already been granted regular bail.

On May 31,2024, the Special Court exclusively to deal with criminal cases related to elected former and sitting MPs/ MLAs in the State of Karnataka, Bengaluru had rejected Bhavani Revanna's anticipatory bail petition saying that the prosecution has made out a prima facie case against her.

The allegation which was leveled against accused no 1( HD Revanna )in the complaint was that the victim was summoned by him.

Apart from a stray statement that he had telephonically called upon the other accused persons, there are no materials to indicate his active involvement.

However, with respect to the petitioner herein the statements recorded of the victim, witnesses and of the sister of the victim corroborates with respect to the fact that the petitioner had played a specific overt act" the special court had observed while dismissing her petition.
