Power Finance Corp to fund IISc’s new research building

Bengaluru: According to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Ltd has made a commitment to support the establishment of a state-of-the-art building that will house its Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research (ICER).
“...The building for ICER will foster cutting-edge fundamental and applied research on various energy-related areas, with special focus on green hydrogen generation,” IISc said.
The facility will be built on IISc campus at a cost of Rs 60 crore over the next two years. It will house modern laboratories, seminar rooms, classrooms and faculty rooms, as well as facilities to develop energy-related products and prototypes.
Prof Govindan Rangarajan, director of IISc, said: “We are extremely grateful to PFC for generously funding a new building... With climate change accelerating at an alarming pace, it is imperative that academia and industry join hands and develop novel solutions that can help us achieve net-zero emissions.”
Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force’s Air Force Technical College (AFTC) and IISc signed an MoU to promote academic cooperation, enhance scientific understanding of defence-adopted technologies, and undertake research and development activities in mutually beneficial areas.
