BENGALURU: BBMP suspended two engineers for carrying out substandard work while asphalting New BEL Road, north Bengaluru.
The suspended officers are assistant executive engineers MC Krishne Gowda and Vishakanta Murthy of road infrastructure department (west division).
The suspension was ordered after chief engineer of road infrastructure BS Prahlad found the two officers had ignored the concerns raised by traffic police. The issue was flagged at the inter-departmental coordination meeting held in August.
During inspection of the road before starting the work, the engineers were told to desilt shoulder drains and construct new ones with steel box gratings before asphalting the road. But the officials didn't follow the instructions, sources said.
