<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">BANGALORE: A 22-year-old youth was shot in the thigh by the police when he tried to attack an inspector with a sword in the Peenya station limits in the wee hours of Friday.<br /><br />The incident occurred around 2 am when three persons on a moped were spotted. They fled when the RMC Yard inspector tried to flag them down.
The police chased them. When the trio was cornered, one Babu (22), brandishing a sword, rushed towards the inspector. He was shot in the thigh while his accomplices escaped. One of them was nabbed later.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Burglars attack watchman:</span> Two unidentified miscreants who tried to break into the Presidency College building in the Hebbal police limits attacked a watchman before escaping on Thursday night. They looted Rs 1,700 from a canteen near the building. The watchman, who reached the spot on hearing the noise, was attacked.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Jewellery recovered:</span> The Subramanyapura police arrested Santosh Raj Urs (18) of Srinivas Colony and recovered jewellery worth Rs 40,000 which he had stolen from his employer’s house.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Illegal ‘silencing’:</span> The Basavanagudi police have registered a case against a businessman who opened fire with his licensed revolver to silence revellers on March 1 after the India-Pak match.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Caught with body:</span> A 22-year-old man Shankar was caught red-handed when he was trying to get rid of a call girl he strangled in Muniswamappa Layout in the Hoskote station limits on Friday. His wife and child had gone to their native place.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Bomb hoax:</span> Tension prevailed in SBM building on K.G. Road on Friday when a caller said a bomb had been planted in the building. The call turned out to be a hoax.</div> </div>
