BANGALORE: Syed Salman Ahmed had thought that his journey through the immigration counter at Mumbai airport would be as smooth as it had been the previous times. But as immigration officer scanned the Riyadh-based business analyst’s passport, an alert flashed on screen flagging him as a notorious poacher wanted in Karnataka.
The 27-year-old MBA was perhaps hoping the case would’ve been long forgotten here but hadn’t bargained for alert immigration officials.
Salman and his team were booked for various crimes, including killing hundreds of deer, sambar, peacocks and gaurs. They’d repeatedly shoot the animals with a .22 rifle until they died.
