Describing Ranga's work, he said Ranga's skills with the camera was superb. "A shot in `Mahishasura Mardini' used a painting as the background. But none could guess that it was a painting until told about it." Ravee introduced Saroja with the phrase: "An aging beautiful woman is a work of art.''
On her achievements, he said Saroja was perhaps the only actress who started in AVM Studios with Rs 35,000 and went up to a remuneration of Rs 3 lakh. She had an illustrious career of 40 years and worked in five languages.
An emotional Saroja Devi after receiving the award said: "During those days, I was only focused on work and not on the money. My mother used to take care of my finance. Now there is so much money but life has become so different. Destiny is important. I am here because of destiny."
