People must show zeal, fight corruption

2011 is a special year for Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde, who is set to retire in August 2011. Still reluctant to pursue a second term, he intends to `do enough' before the D-Day. As Lokayukta, fighting corruption remains top of his special wish list for 2011. But he also hopes for some change among the aam janta. Better participation against corruption and using the right to vote are just a few to name.
1x1 polls

1. My first wish, goes without saying, is against corruption. I just hope there is less corruption at least in 2011. I guess we have had enough of it this year. It's time now for some reformation.
2. I sincerely hope to see better administration in place and this, at all levels in the government. This will automatically clog the loopholes in the system and ensure less corruption, indirectly.
3. I also hope to see some discipline in the legislature __ both at the Centre and state. The present scheme of practices and sessions are a cause for concern. At the state level, the last two assemblies did not function at all. Worse, even in Parliament, there's been no meeting for many days. Huge public money is going waste due to this.
4. People must get proactive against corruption and mal-administration in all forms and at all levels. It's possible. They must get into active networking, form associations, react to every development that concerns them. Even today, I find only the media talking about the Commonwealth Games scam. What about the common man? Is he/she not affected by all this?
5. Lastly, I wish to see at least over 90% voting in all elections, beginning 2011. Small as it seems, but I think that this will go a long way in changing the system of democracy.
