bangalore: the bangalore city corporation (bcc) is working out modalities to introduce a centralised system for printing and distribution of parking tickets with a secret code, in order to check harassment and charging of excess fees by parking attendants. addressing a joint press conference on saturday, deputy commissioner, development, y.k. muddukrishna and chairman of the standing committee for finance and taxation n.l.
narendra babu said the officials are working on the system to streamline the issuance of parking tickets and a decision will be taken shortly in this regard. following allegations of irregularities in the issuance of parking tickets with the contractors allegedly fudging the fee amount, a special squad under the supervision of muddukrishna has been formed which will monitor the collection of parking fees. recently the squad identified and issued showcause notices to five such erring contractors. ``the bcc will make it mandatory for the contractors to register the names of parking attendants who work under them with the bcc. the contractors must also display boards at the parking slots with rates and categories of vehicles. the parking attendants must be in uniform, wear badges and identification cards,'''' narendra babu stressed. the bcc is also working towards issuing parking passes from september as the existing contracts expire during that time.
