Bengaluru: Alert beat policemen caught a habitual offender red-handed while he was trying to make away with cash from a private firm on Tuesday night in Seshadripuram police limits. Ravi Thapa, 23, who's from Assam and was in jail for two years in a 2011 house-theft case, was released on bail only on June 10.
On Monday night, Thapa entered the firm on Sirur Park Road after breaking the window grill.
He stole Rs 15,000 and an ATM card. Head constable Zaheer Ahmed and his colleague Madhu M, who were patrolling the area, signalled him to stop. Seeing the cops, Thapa took to his heels but the duo managed to chase him down. They recovered the cash and ATM card along with a screw driver and crow bar from Thapa. He has been sent back to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail after being produced before the court.
