Despite exhaustive medical intervention, his condition deteriorated. He was declared brain dead twice by a panel of expert doctors in accordance with the Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994. His family made the courageous decision to donate his viable organs, thereby offering a lifeline to others in need.

Following the protocols outlined by Jeevasarthakathe, SOTTO, Bengaluru, the liver was sent to KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle, one kidney to Yenepoya Hospital, Mangalore, and another kidney to Indiana Hospital. Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, retained the corneas and skin for registered patients awaiting transplantation.

Dr Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, hailed the act of organ donation as a noble endeavour to save lives. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Lewis’s family for their compassionate decision.
