BENGALURU: Even as the government is facing an embarrassing situation with their flip-flop over the motion of dismissal against UPA Lokayukta Subhash B Adi, speaker Kagodu Thim mappa on Tuesday said he is still examining it.
Thimmappa said no decision has been taken on the motion as he is yet to get documents from the Lokayukta office. “I have been seeking the documents from the Lokayukta office for over a week.
They keep delaying it saying they would be dispatched today or next day. I don't know the reason,“ he said.
Thimappa said as a last resort, he has directed the department of personnel and administrative reforms (DPAR) officials to go and get the documents in the next two days.
Reacting to the opposition's allegations, Thimappa said he had never admitted the motion of dismissal after it was moved by the ruling Congress MLAs. “There is confusion following media reports. Before admitting the motion, I need to scrutinize documents and evidence. These are serious allegations against a former high court judge which will be sent to the Chief Justice. I will take a decision only after scrutiny of documents,“ he said.
Earlier, the BJP questioned the government's stand on the motion.“Legislature records show the motion for dismissal has been admitted. But law minister TB Jayachandra is misleading the public by issuing contradictory statements.A few hours after saying the speaker had admitted the motion, he backtracked saying it was only moved,“ BJP MLA Suresh Kumar alleged.
