No change in state president for now: BJP
Bengaluru: B Y Vijayendra, the president of the state unit of BJP, will continue to be in his current role, with the party's core committee for Karnataka refraining from any discussion on a change to the state leadership during its meeting here on Tuesday.Speaking to the media after the meeting, MLC and party leader C T Ravi said: "There was no discussion on any change to the state president. It cannot happen at this level."Asked to comment on party dissidents openly seeking an election to the state president's post, Ravi said: "Certain things cannot be responded to in public and can only be considered within the party forum."He further clarified that the party would discuss those issues only once elections for district presidents are completed.Sharing details of Tuesday's meeting, Ravi said the core committee discussed the appointment of district presidents. Names of three party members from each district would be forwarded to the central leadership, which would then take a final decision in consultation with the state unit.Earlier in the day. a meeting of all party MLAs and MLCs on ‘Sangathan Parvah' saw as many as 50 legislators in participation. According to sources, most of them belonged to the Vijayendra camp.
Informal discussions were reportedly held on conducting elections for the state president's post as well, but the talks were cut short with the state leadership saying that those discussions could only be conducted by the central leadership.BJP national general secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, co-incharge of Karnataka Sudhakar Reddy, and ‘Sangathan Parva' in-charge Pon Radhakrishnan attended Tuesday's meeting.
