BENGALURU: Karnataka’s Nina Venkatesh and Harshika Ramachandra clinched gold medals in the women’s 50m butterfly and 200m freestyle events respectively in the Khelo India Youth Games at Bhopal on Tuesday. Nina clocked 28.58s while Harshika’s timing read 2:10.20 to finish on top.

Meanwhile, state swimmers Manavi Varma (1:15.71) and S Lakshya (1:15.96) were second and third in 100m breaststroke. Dhinidhi Desinghu (2:10.51) and Shirin (9:39.15) bagged silver medals in 200m freestyle and 800m freestyle events respectively.

Results (Karnataka only): Women: 50m butterfly: 1. Nina Venkatesh (28.58); 100m breaststroke: 2. Manavi Varma (1:15.71), 3. S Lakshya (1:15.96). 200m freestyle: 1. Harshika Ramachandra (2:10.20s), 2. Dhinidhi Desinghu (2:10.51). 800m freestyle: 2. Shirin (9:39.15). 3. Ashmitha Chandra (9:40.75).

Karthik, Dhriti shine

Karnataka’s Karthik S won the silver in men’s canoe slalom while Dhriti Maria won the bronze in the corresponding women’s event. In the final, Karthik timed 366.410s to finish second behind Madhya Pradesh’s Vishal Varma (80.870s) in Maheswar. In the women’s section, Dhriti Maria (559.120s) came third.

Results: Canoe Slalom: C1: Men: 1. Vishal Varma (MP, 80.870s), 2. Karthik S (Kar, 366.410), 3. V Achuth Kumar (521.400). Women: 1. Mansi Batham (MP, 128.596s), 2. Preeti Pal (Har, 491.172), 3. Dhriti Maria (Kar, 559.120).
