Indavalu: The much-awaited BMIC Road will come up in a year if the present government is supportive, according to Ashok Kheny, managing director of Nandhi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE).
Speaking at Nandhi Awards distribution on Saturday, Kheny said: "If BMIC comes into effect at the stipulated time, the 110-km stretch between Mysore and Bangalore will be covered in an hour."
Kheny also suggested the BJP government to declare a day for farmers, who are the backbone of India and an agrarian based nation.
The charity of Ashok Kheny extended to Indavalu village of Mandya taluk. A fan club in Mandya conferred eight achiever of the place Mandya with `Nandhi Award' here on Saturday.
Educationalist and former MLA H D Chowdaiah, play back singer Lakshi and other six achievers of the district were conferred with Nandhi Awards in Indavalu village on the occasion of 55 Kannada Rajyotsava.
On the occasion the Kheny Fans association has feted Ashok Kheny with presenting silver crown and silver ghade.
Women and Child Welfare minister P M Narendraswamy, former MP G Made Gowda, former minister M S Athmananda, Nagamangala MLA K Suresh Gowda, former MLA H B Ramu, actor Naveen Krishna and others took part in the function.
