Newly married woman hangs herself

BANGALORE: P Shwetha, a 24-year-old meter reader with Bescom, allegedly committed suicide at her parent's home in Rukmini Nagar near Peenya on Friday night. She got married just a fortnight ago. The incident came to light on Saturday morning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Shwetha had fallen in love with an autorikshaw driver Arun, residing in a room in her neighbourhood for the past eight years.Her parents disapproved of their affair. Arun and Shwetha got married 15 days ago.
Her father Panduranga, a postman, and a few relatives went to the couple's house to convince her that they would arrange a grand reception for the couple. She agreed to this and accompanied her father to his house. There, she hanged herself with her dupatta.
Her father got suspicious when he found that she did not open the door of the room till late morning on Saturday. With the help of neighbours, he opened the door only to find her body hanging.
Peenya police sent the body to MS Ramaiah Medical College hospital for the post mortem. Police registered a case of unnatural death as there was no allegations regarding the death, either by her parents or her husband. Police said the reason for her suicide is yet to be ascertained.
