BENGALURU: A day after a social organization approached the police commissioner seeking a ban on

New Year

Eve celebrations, top cop T Suneel Kumar on Tuesday said there is no plan to stop the revelry.

Police will seriously examine the organizations’ petition and put in place necessary safety measures to ensure the revelry does not get out of hand, he said. “We cannot stop anyone from celebrating on MG Road. We’ll take precautionary steps and ensure the celebrations end on a safe note,” Suneel Kumar added.


The petition has been forwarded to DCP (central)

for action. The petition claimed there could be a law and order problem during the revelry.

There were reports of multiple incidents of molestation during the New Year Eve revelry on

MG Road and Brigade Road

last year.
