The next time you see a shady parking slot in Cub bon Park, don't freewheel into it. It will cost you dear -Rs 125 for a four-wheeler and Rs 95-Rs 125 for a four-wheeler and Rs 95 for a two-wheeler for the day.
The department of horticulture has floated tenders revising parking fee in the Park, preferred by those with business in nearby commercial hubs.
The 500-900% hike is a move to curb increasing congestion inside the Park during weekdays.
Vehicles are banned inside the premium lung space every Sunday and second Saturday of every month.
Mahantesh Murgod, deputy director, horticulture department, told TOI the new parking fare structure is likely to be implemented after the second week of January. "The amended rates will have different time slabs -the first three hours, 3-6 hours and an increase for subsequent hours," he added.
The revised fee pricing for fourwheelers is Rs 25 for 3 hours, Rs 75 for 6 hours and Rs 10 each for the subsequent hours for the rest of the day. For two-wheelers, it is Rs 15 for 3 hours, Rs 45 for 6 hours and Rs 10 each for the subsequent hours. Henceforth, the allotted time for parking is 8am to 7pm. Currently, the fee is Rs 10 for a bike and Rs 20 for a four-wheeler for the entire day.
Cubbon Park has five parking bays: near Queen Victoria statue up to Kind Edward statue, Java Fig Avenue Road, near the Central library, Gazebo and Ringwood Circle and on Bal Bhavan Road.
