mysuru end Tigers’ winning streak

Bengaluru: Mysuru Warriors produced a fine chase to snap table toppers Hubli Tigers’ five-match winning streak in the KSCA Maharaja Trophy T20 tournament here on Sunday. The Karun Nair-led side registered a six-wicket victory with seven balls to spare. The red-hot CA Karthik (4/50 and 29), opener R Samarth (73) and Karun (41) were the architects of Warriors’ fourth consecutive win. Luvnith Sisodia’s 63-ball 105 and Pravin Dubey’s 3/38 went in vain for the Tigers.
Invited to bat, Tigers’ Sisodia continued his rich vein of form, as the team raced to 44-1. Skipper Manish Pandey (33) and Sisodia then stitched together a 92-run partnership off just 49 balls. Sisodia was finally out hit wicket as the Tigers finished at a healthy 185/7.
Warriors, in reply, scored 68 runs in the powerplay. Following the dismissal of Karthik (29), Samarth and Karun maintained the momentum.
With the score at 143/1 in 14 overs, Dubey got rid of Karun and KS Lankesh (0) off successive deliveries while Samarth was out run out after a brilliant piece of fielding by Pandey in the same over. With the Warriors requiring 42 runs off the final five overs, Shoaib Manager (21n.o) and S Rakshith (22n.o) saw the team through.
MYSTICS PREVAIL

Electing to bowl, Mystics restricted Dragons to 120/9 with Abhilash Shetty, Vyshak Vijaykumar and Amit Verma claiming two wickets apiece. In reply, Mystics wobbled, but an unbeaten 42-ball 62 from R Smaran saw them home in 17.1 overs.
