Murder suspect tries to evade cops, shot at

BENGALURU: Bengaluru Rural police shot at a man accused of murder as he tried to run away on being caught. The suspect, Manjunath alias Mental Manja, is in hospital and out of danger.

Manjunath had been sexually harassing the sister of 26year-old Muniraju, a cab driver, for the past few days. On learning about this Muniraju, along with his friends, confronted Manjunath and assaulted him, police said. Angered by this, Manjunath plotted to murder Muniraju and intercepted him at

Bommasandra Industrial Area

on Friday night when he was returning from work. In the dark, Manjunath hacked Muniraju to death.

On Saturday, a special team formed to crack the case received information about Manjunath spotted near

Bommasandra

and confronted him. He sustained bullet injuries on his right leg and was taken to

Victoria Hospital

for treatment.
