Moral policing: Four people attack two youths for talking to Hindu girl, arrested

CHIKKAMAGALURU: A case of moral policing has been reported with a group of four people attacking two youths in public for talking to a Hindu girl in KSRTC bus stand in Mudigere.

The police have arrested the accused and booked them under the charges of riot. The police have registered two cases in connection with the incident.

Cases were booked under Section 143, 144, 147, 148, 323, 324, 504, 506, 149 and 34 of the IPC.

According to Superintendent of Police Vikram Amate, four persons attacked two youths for talking to the girl in the bus stand on Tuesday. The accused, who are locals, arrived in a car and attacked two youths. One of the victims is a painter and another owns a mobile shop, the IPS officer said.

Based on the complaint by the duo and the footage of the CCTV camera, the police have booked the four youths. According to the complaint, the group attacked them in the bus stand.

However, the accused also lodged a counter complaint claiming that the duo were misbehaving with the girl.

We are investigating the case and also verifying the background of the accused, said the SP.
