MLA Ganesh seeks bail, Karnataka high court orders notice to cops
BENGALURU: The
Justice BA Patil adjourned the hearing to April 8 for further consideration.
Ganesh sought bail in the criminal case lodged against him on charges of trying to murder party colleague and Hospet MLA Anand Singh on the night of January 20 when they were in a resort on the city’s outskirts. A special court for people’s representatives rejected his bail plea on March 25.
In his petition, Ganesh claimed Anand Singh wields power and has 14 criminal cases against him. Further, investigation in the case is almost complete and he has been in custody for more than a month. Anand Singh’s injuries were minor in nature and the case on the hand has been blown out of proportion, his bail plea said.
Last week, while rejecting Ganesh’s bail plea, the special court said the prosecution had prima facie established at this stage that the accused was involved in offences against Anand Singh. Further, though Ganesh claimed he was also attacked and sustained injuries, he did not file any complaint and was not available for investigation for one month from the date of the incident.
