BENGALURU: The technical committee formed by the government to study the three lake breach incidents reported in Bengaluru in as many months has found that two waterbodies overflowed following heavy rain, while Hulimavu Lake breached because of a ‘mischievous act’.

The three-member panel headed by former Indian Institute of Science professor BR Srinivasa Murthy submitted its interim report on December 16, a copy of which has been accessed by TOI. The other two members are retired chief engineer

ML Madaiah and Tumakuru Smart City Limited

chief engineer HR Shantharajanna.

The members — who visited Hulimavu, Hosakerehalli and Doddabidarakallu lakes — had sought more time to study other vulnerable lakes and suggest measures.
