BELAGAVI: Small-scale industries minister
Satish Jarkiholi defended the ‘beef party’ organized by Karnataka Praja Vedike (KPV) at the premises of Raibag tahasildar office on the eve of World Human Rights Day.
Workers of KPV headed by advocate Surendra Ugare had organized ‘beef party’. Around 40 workers had eaten 10 kg beef in the premises of tahasildar office claiming it’s their constitutional right and nobody can question this right.
In response to it, activists of Sri Ram Sene had cleaned the office and its premises by sprinkling cow urine (gomutra) on Tuesday and demanded registering criminal cases against the organizers of the ‘beef party’.
Responding to the media persons on the issue here on Wednesday, minister Jarkiholi defended the act of ‘beef party’ organizers saying that it’s their right given by constitution. Who are these people to question their food habits, he asked. Commenting on cleaning of the office by using cow urine, Jarkiholi said “first ask them to clean caste system first if they really want to clean anything in the society”.
Jarkiholi is popular as crusader against superstitions with his well-known ‘Graveyard Stay’ programme.
