Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd
on Friday invited tenders for the
Central Silk Board-K R Puram corridor
.
The entire 19km elevated stretch with 13 stations along the ORR is crucial for the city as it passes through the IT corridor housing several multinational companies. The deadline for the Light Blue Line, comprising Central Silk Board-KR Puram (Phase 2A) and KR Puram- Kempegowda International Airport (Phase 2B) corridors is 2023-24.
With 90% of land acquisition already completed and utility-shifting contracts awarded, there seem to be no major hurdles in implementing the Light Blue Line.
“Tenders for ORR-KIA are being floated in six packages. Of these, five packages are for the Light Blue Line and stations from Central Silk Board to KIA and one for two depots. We have invited tenders for the first two of the five packages. These two will cover Central Silk Board Junction to KR Puram. The other three tenders will be called in February. There are no changes in alignment or station locations,” said a BMRCL official.
BMRCL has called tenders in two packages for the civil work for Central Silk Board-KR Puram-Byappanahalli depot and for the construction of loops and ramps for a 2.8km flyover at Central Silk Board Junction.
The first package is a 9.85km elevated section which includes six Metro stations: Central Silk Board Junction, HSR Layout, Agara Junction, Iblur Junction, Bellandur, Kadubeesanahalli and construction of a 2.8km flyover at Central Silk Board at Rs 731.2 crore.
The second package is a 9.74km elevated section with seven stations at Kodibisanhalli, Marathahalli, ISRO Layout, Doddanekkundi, DRDO Sports Complex, Saraswathi Nagar (Mahadevapura) and KR Puram, and a 2km link line to Byappanahalli depot at Rs 594.2 crore. The tenders will be opened on February 6.
Flyover tender re-issued
BMRCL on Friday floated a tender for the construction of loops and ramps for a 2.8km flyover at Central Silk Board. The move came after a Salem-based contractor to whom BMRCL had issued a letter of acceptance in July, backed out after failing to produce a bank guarantee for performance security.
BMRCL officials said the flyover will facilitate a signal-free intersection and decongest the road. The elevated road is likely to be eight metres above the existing road, while the Metro line will be at a 16-metre height.
The 20m-wide four-lane road will have four loops with a ramp towards Electronics City,
BTM Layout
and HSR Layout. The road will bring respite to motorists headed to Electronics City, BTM Layout, Marathahalli and HSR Layout via Silk Board. Two Metro lines — RV Road-Bommasandra and Silk Board-KR Puram-Airport interchange — meet at the junction.
