BENGALURU: Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) celebrated a decade of its Accident Research team at the ‘Mercedes-Benz SAFE ROADS India Summit 2024’, held in Whitefield on Wednesday.
In 2023 alone, India witnessed over 4.8 lakh road accidents, resulting in over 1.7 lakh fatalities. Insights from MBRDI's accident research reveal that 95% of drivers and front passengers wearing seat belts escaped injuries, highlighting the critical role of passive safety systems. Since launching active accident investigations in 2019, the team delved into 52 critical cases, including seven involving
electric vehicles.
The summit, part of the SAFE ROADS initiative, brought together policymakers, industry experts, academia, NGOs, and students to exchange ideas and solutions for
road safety.
