later in the day, the mayor inspected dhananjaya's office and looked into the files. he found that several files on important works had been kept pending for a long time. chandrashekar has asked the concerned official to hasten the process and clear the files. the meeting witnessed an altercation between azadnagar corporator b.t. srinivas murthy and deputy commissioner, horticulture, y.k. muddu krishna. murthy complained that a park on mysore road was in ruins and the compound had collapsed six months ago. murthy came down heavily on muddu krishna for "behaving arrogantly" when he went to seek information on the park repairs. "i was told that in the present year's budget no allocation had been made for park repairs in my ward. when i sought more information, the official did not have the patience to explain but rudely said he was fed up and looking forward to getting out of this place," murthy complained. making a clarification, muddu krishna told the house that despite explaining that in the next year's budget, allocation would be made to take up park repairs, the corporator was very impatient. "an executive engineer who was present in my cabin also clarified the matter but he was asked to shut up by the corporator. we are public servants guided by rules and regulations and have self-esteem," muddu krishna said. the mayor, who intervened to set the house in order, said the officials should understand the seriousness of the issue and act immediately. chandrashekar also advised the corporators to maintain a good decorum while interacting with officials. he also warned the officials to be present in the house during meetings and said any official who dishonoured the dignity of the council could "vacate their post". new crematoria: the bcc will make an allocation in the next year's budget to build three electric crematoria in bangalore west, chief engineer, projects, rame gowda, said responding to a member's complaint about shortage of crematoria. jdu corporator b.r. nanjundappa, who raised the issue also threw light on the shortage of hearse vans in the city. of the eight hearse vans owned by the bcc, four of them were always under repair. garbage menace: the corporators complained that garbage clearance in several parts had come to a standstill due to shortage of diesel for tippers. prakashnagar corporator g. padmavati pointed out that her ward had been affected for the past four days. joint commissioner, finance, p.k. srihari, said due to a string of holidays last week, cheques could not been encashed. besides, there was disel shortage in bharat petroleum.
