mangalore: kedige anjali rao, a viith standard student of the st gerosa higher primary school, has been selected to participate in the 13th asian pacific children's convention in fukuoka, japan, scheduled to be held from july 15. anjali is the only delegate who has been selected from karnataka. the other three girls (one each) are from punjab, haryana and hyderabad.
of the 4 boys selected, one is from andhra pradesh, one from maharashtra, one from gujarat and one from tamil nadu. students from over 48 countries are participating in the event. according to a release, the main objective of the 14-day global event include, appreciation of culture of various countries and regions, promotion of mutual understanding and friendship and nurturing international awareness among youths. the fukuoka municipal government would sponsor the event, the release added. during their tour, the delegates will visit the marine house at fukuoka and later stay with different pre-designated host families in the city for ten days. the host families will take care of their respective guests. the indian delegates would also present a group cultural programme depicting indian culture, the release said.
