Man pounds wife & father to death with pestle, surrenders before cops

BENGALURU: It was 5.30am on Wednesday when the staff on night shift at Sira police station in Kunigal, Tumakuru district, were getting ready to wind up their work. Just then, a man walked in carrying a blood-soaked

. “I killed my father and wife. Arrest me,” he told cops in Kannada.

E Narayanaswamy, 29, a resident of Kantaiahnapalya in Kunigal and

animation assistant

with a private firm on MG Road, Bengaluru, was arrested immediately. Police rushed to his house and found his three-year-old daughter crying, sitting near her mother’s body.

The murders took place between 3am and 5am. “He killed his father Eeranna and wife Sheela while they were asleep. He had hit them on their head with the pestle. There were also multiple stab injuries on their bodies,” police said.

Narayanaswamy, who had married his sister’s daughter, used to travel from his village to Bengaluru every day for work.

Divya Gopinath, superintendent of police, Tumakuru, said the accused has not revealed the exact reason behind the killing. “We produced him before the court and took him into police custody for questioning,” she said.
