A 34-year-old man from Tumakuru was arrested for allegedly claiming to be the personal assistant of rural development and panchayat raj minister Priyank Kharge and taking money from many Congress functionaries and workers, promising to get them nominated to corporations and boards.

BENGALURU: A 34-year-old man from Tumakuru was arrested for allegedly claiming to be the personal assistant of rural development and panchayat raj minister Priyank Kharge and taking money from many Congress functionaries and workers, promising to get them nominated to corporations and boards.Police identified the accused as Raghunath SV. On May 26, Kharge’s personal assistant Keshava Murthy filed a complaint with Sadashivanagar police, saying an unidentified man was taking money from several people by promising them coveted posts in corporations and boards.“The accused has been calling people since May 21, introducing himself as Priyank Kharge’s personal assistant. Promising them good posts in corporations and boards, he is demanding money,” Murthy’s complaint read. The accused even shared details of his bank account for the victims to deposit money.“We are questioning him. It looks like he has taken a few thousands of rupees from individuals. Details will be known after studying his bank account details,” an investigating officer said.
