Man fools people over BPL cards

BANGALORE: He posed as a government agent promising facilities like BPL/ration cards to his victims, then conned them by stealing their gold jewellery.
Chandra Layout police arrested S Manjesh alias Manja of Hessarghatta on charges of cheating 41 persons of ornaments worth over Rs 35 lakh. Police said 12 theft cases have been solved with the arrest of Manjesh.DCP (West division) S N Sidramappa said Manjesh would pose as an agent, visit the houses of victims seeking BPL/ration cards and tell them to keep their ornaments at home. He would take the victims out on the pretext of meeting government officials who would issue them the cards. He would make them wait at an isolated place for the officials. In the meantime, Manjesh would return to the house and escape with the jewellery.
