Man, 59, held for trying to rape three-year-old girl in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 59-year-old man who tried to rape a three-year-old girl in east Bengaluru Monday afternoon was caught by residents, beaten up and handed over to police.The accused, a native of Odisha, was staying in a rented house and the girl was his neighbour. Police said the incident happened between 2pm and 2.30pm when the girl was playing outside the house. He lured her with something and tried to rape her. Her parents spotted her after a search and, with the help of neighbours, caught the man and thrashed him.A senior police officer said a case was registered under Pocso Act. The girl was subjected to a medical test, and there was no intercourse, doctors said.
