BANGALORE: As many as 65 of the 74 Congress MLAs will petition the state Congress leadership to suspend former MP Tejeswini Gowda and outgoing MLC N Manjunath for their anti-party statements.
In an interview with a TV channel, Tejeswini had demanded KPCC working president D K Shiva Kumar's resignation for the Congress losing in Bangalore (Rural) in the MLCs elections.
1x1 polls
And Manjunath had accused former deputy CM Siddaramaiah of not working for him in the same elections in Mysore. Manjunath lost to the BJP.
Congress MLA P M Ashok said the memorandum will be submitted to KPCC president R V Deshpande on Thursday. "We are yet to decide on the date to stage a dharna before the Congress Bhavan if action is not taken against both. Now, we demand that party members seek permission of the higher-ups before going to the media or appearing on panel discussions of TV channels," he added.
Notices served
The state Congress disciplinary action committee has served notices to Tejeswini and Manjunath. Action committee chairman H Hanumanthappa told TOI on Wednesday: "There was no necessity for the two to air their grievances in public. I have served notices to them and sought an explanation within a week."
