BANGALORE: The Bangalore City Corporation's (BCC) proposed widening of the Madivala road will soon become a reality.

bangalore: the bangalore city corporation's (bcc) proposed widening of the madivala road will soon become a reality. on saturday, the bcc cleared the narrow stretch of 400 mts, which is technically called chicken neck, between madivala police station and the northern side of hosur road. the bcc acquired the area and cleared over 25 shops. a compensation of rs 1.5 crore has been sanctioned to be paid to the shop owners.

this chicken neck area was also inspected by chief minister s.m. krishna when he toured the city a couple of months ago and had asked the bcc officials to pay compensation to the shops owners, acquire the space and widen the road. the existing two lane road will be widened to a four lane, double carriage way. this stretch is the connecting road to the electronic city and was a black spot all these years as it was narrow and crammed. under the instructions of bcc commissioner ashok dalwai, the land acquisition work was carried out and the road widening work will commence soon. area mla ramalinga reddy, madivala corporator manjunath reddy, bcc's engineer-in-chief r. jaiprasad, executive engineers, a.k. gopalaswamy, rajashekar reddy and assistant commissioner, estates and land acquisition a.b. mandanna supervised the work.
